Well, what a letdown of a weekend, culminating in the Pirates being shutout for the third time in four games. I'm passing the hat around, we're gonna take a collection and buy them the Tom Emanski videos. Like the Vegas Jesus said, Murderer's Row indeed.
On to the links...
- A link to the Pirates' game recap yesterday. Move along, nothing to see.
- The Pirates still have the best ERA in the majors and give up the lowest runs/game. The defense appears to be the best in the bigs also. Our GM though, exuding of confidence, expects the other shoe to drop.
- Karstens gives up too many walks, too many pitches, and too many homeruns. It's said that it's a formula for failure. I say that desperation, booze, and mediocre women are just as formulamatic.
- Scouting the Brewers.
- Limas "Stonehands and I'm Hurt" Sweed and Mendenhall are looking for better sophomore seasons. In my expert, and yes say it with me, uncontestable, opinion, they'll both be fine.
- The Pens are still looking for scoring from an offensive player not named Malkin or Crosby. Speaking of Malkin...
- He's having a goal drought. Here and here. If he continues with these stat lines, the Pens will be enjoying some mid-May golfing very soon.
- Like clockwork and my habit of not getting work done at work, an opposing coach bitches about the Pens getting calls go their way.
- However, it's not all rainclouds and puppy killing, the Pens are still confident, and they should be with how they played on Saturday and this nugget:
The Caps are now 7-1 all-time in Game 1s against the Penguins, but just 1-6 in the previous seven series.
They asked him about his drought, Malkin, that is, and he said he will have to fix that in Game 2...WHOOOOOO!

And after that he said, "If he dies, he dies".
